CONSUB supported Frazer Drilling Services on the subsea engineering planning and procedures and offshore supervision of work for the successful recovery of the subsea tree.
Frazer Drilling Services was contracted by Bridge Energy to manage the jack up rig operations during the well abandonment and recovery of the tree. CONSUB supported Frazer Drilling Services on the subsea engineering planning and procedures and offshore supervision of work for the recovery of the subsea tree.
The water depth was 20 m, and visibility was very poor due to currents running at 2 knots and sediment disturbance from the ROV thrusters.
The recovery was executed using a combination of ROVs and diver intervention.
We were contracted to provide subsea engineering expertise for planning the operation, which included performing an EFAT/SIT on a similar subsea tree which had been procured but not installed and was available in storage at a yard in Aberdeen.
Our personnel attended on the rig and oversaw the offshore operations interfacing with the WROV crew and the dive team as appropriate.
Recovery was successful despite weather related delays and visibility difficulties.
